Karen has studied stage violence with Rapier Wit, Fight Master Robert Seale, and Fight Directors Canada. Her play Heroine, featuring sword fighting roles for women, has been produced across Canada.
Her fight direction credits include: Neptune Theatre, Ships' Company Theatre, Theatre New Brunswick, The Pillowman: Fuller Street Five, Mulgrave Road Theatre, the Nova Scotia Merritt Awards, the Halifax Theatre for Young People, Festival Antigonish, and Home First Productions. She is sought after teacher who has also created fight choreography for university and high school productions. She assists her mentor Robert Seale teaching violence in performance at Acadia and Dalhousie Universitiy. They are working towards the formation of a stage violence training program to serve the needs of Atlantic performers.
Karen received the Theatre Nova Scotia scholarship for advanced studies in found object violence violence. She is passionate about innovation in the art form and its essential integration into the play as whole.
